Arizona’s Maricopa
County sheriff Joe Arpaio is known
for a number of controversial actions, especially against immigrants and hispanics, by
detaining without crimes and punishing without conviction.
The U.S Justice Department has found that
Arpaio and his department has violated civil rights laws.
Sheriff Arpaio likes to show his toughnesss
by housing inmates in open air tent cities and, further, humiliates male inmates
by forcing them to wear pink underwear.
The sheriff was sued after 2001 death of a mentally ill man
who was forced to wear pink underwear.
