Los Angeles Doctor charged with murder for prescribing drugs

Prescription drugs, especially pain killers, are addictive and deadly killers. A number of Celebrity deaths have brought to light the danger of prescription drugs. 

Most recently, it was Whitney Houston and before that Michael Jackson who died due to prescription drugs. Michael Jackson’s doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Now, Los Angeles County District Attorney has filed murder charges against a doctor for over prescribing drugs like Xanax and OxyContin,

Tasers responsible for 500 deaths in the U.S.

Police in the U.S. currently use Tasers to subdue dangerous or uncooperative suspects. The police claims Tasers save lives and considers them non-lethal tool. However, the data compiled by the Amnesty International indicates use of Tasers have led to a number of deaths. In several cases the death can be attributed to the unnecessary and forceful use of Tasers.

According to Amnesty International, at least 500 people in the USA have died since 2001 after being shocked with Tasers while being arrested or while in custody.

Prescription drugs are known to cause more deaths in the United States than auto accidents. Celebrity deaths are known because of their visibility but it is only a small portion of the casualty suffered by general public.

Singer Whitney Houston death past week at the age 48 is a tragedy. She was found dead in her room at the Beverly Hills Hilton. Whitney was known to have drug addiction problem.

According to TMZ, Whitney Houston died from what appears to be a combination of alcohol mixed with Xanax and other prescription drug. 

Whatever may be the reason for her death, celebrity deaths are often a lesson in living healthy and death. The lesson is simple: watch your health and stay away for drugs, legal or illegal.

According to recently issued report by the Surgeon General, “Even brief exposure to tobacco smoke causes immediate harm to the body, damaging cells and inflaming tissue in ways that can lead to serious illness and death.

Every exposure to tobacco, from occasional smoking or secondhand smoke, can damage DNA in ways that lead to cancer. Tobacco smoke damages almost every organ in your body and one cigarette can kill you.

According to the report, about 40 million Americans smoke — 20% of adults and older teens. Tobacco kills more than 443,000 a year.
