Animal rights group loses drone in South Carolina shoot out

Mikrokopter drone
Remote controlled drones are being used by the U.S. military in war in places like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Somalia. The police agencies have been using drones in the U.S. The Occupy Movement in Poland used drones to watch locations of riot police. Now, it turns out animal rights groups have started using drones to keep an eye on animal abuses. According to thetandd.com, the latest incident occurred near Broxton Bridge Plantation in Ehrhardt, South Carolina.

Animal rights group SHARK (SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness), showed up with a Mikrokopter drone to document live pigeon slaughter
event at the plantation  The representatives for the plantation did not want the drone to be flying but SHARK refused. As a result the pigeon shooting was cancelled.

The activists launched the drone over the highway U.S. 601 to see what was happening. As soon as the drone got up in the air, in retaliation, several shots were fired form the plantation towards the highway. The drone was hit and crashed on the highway.

The Colleton County Sheriff's Department came to the scene and filed a malicious damage to property incident report. The group, SHARK, wants to file charges against those who shot down and damaged the drone.

In this incident, the animal rights group, SHARK, managed to stop bird killings but suffered damage to the drone even before it could record anything.
