National Pancake Day by IHOP

IHOP, Pancakes
National Pancake Day was started in 2006 by the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) restaurant chain. IHOP offers a free short stack of Buttermilk pancakes on February 28.

Pancakes are not really free because, in return, the guests are asked to consider leaving a donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and other designated local charities.

Since the beginning of National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly $8 million to support charities
in the communities in which it operates. Children's Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds for 170 children's hospitals across North America. Since 1983, Children's Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4 billion, most of it $1 at a time.

IHOP restaurants are open throughout the day and evening hours and offer a broad array of lunch, dinner and snack items as well. IHOP restaurants are franchised and operated by Glendale, Calif.-based International House of Pancakes, LLC and its affiliates. International House of Pancakes, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DineEquity, Inc.

As of September 30, 2011, there were 1,532 IHOP restaurants located in 50 states and the District of Columbia, Canada, Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
