Porn industry in Los Angeles faces tough choice with condom law

Condom Law Los Angeles
Los Angeles is known for Hollywood, the home for billions of dollar in movie production. Lesser know is the fact that Los Angeles area is also the top producer of pornographic movies.

Most of the adult film business is located in San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles county and rivals regular movie business in revenue. Pornographic film business in Los Angeles is estimated to generate over $4 billion a year and employs over 20,000 people.

The US Adult movie business is unhappy with the new condom law
passed in January by Los Angeles City Council. Starting March 5, the law requires that all porn actors must wear protection while performing in films on location in Los Angeles.

Apparently, the industry already permits actors to wear condom if the choose to do so. However, most workers and porno viewers find it undesirable.

The law, meant to prevent the spread of HIV and promote safe sex, was passed because of lobbying by Aids activists and the cases of actors contracting HIV while filming.

The porn industry is not happy and intends to take legal action against the City of Los Angeles and, if that fail, will consider leaving Los Angeles to make porn movies somewhere else.
