iPad 3 |
iPad3 is in the market and, all indications are, it is going
for record breaking sales.
A recent study published by the Consumer reports caused a
bit of concern when it claimed iPad can heat up to 116 degree Fahenheit. Is
heating really a concern and is iPad bad for your health and safety?
The study claimed that new iPad can get significantly hotter
than the earlier iPad2 model only when plugged in and continually running a action
game.
The heating was not uniform and the temperature increase was
recorded on the front and rear of the new iPad. The tests were done at a room temperature
of 72 degrees, an optimal condition for operating a tablet. It's not clear whether
the iPad might heat up even more in a warmer environment. Apple advises not
using the iPad in environments over 95 degrees.
Previously, the Consumer Reports have concluded that a
laptop that heats up to 120 degrees or more could damage bare skin. However, they do not believe that the heating observed
in new iPad represents a safety concern. During tests, when new iPad was held
in hands, when it was at its hottest, it felt very warm but not uncomfortable
if held for a brief period. Additionally, the model performed very well in
preliminary testing, and its predecessor, the iPad 2, is currently among their
top-rated tablets.
Apple also does not see any safety concerns and emphasizes
that the new iPad operates "well within our thermal specifications."
So, in summary, don’t worry, buy new iPad and enjoy it.
